Part 6
It has been about 2.5 months since my last Big Shack update. We have had a few setbacks and it required us to take a break. Jacob had injured his back therefore we had to stop working on the camper build. Then, the holidays and winter. But now we are back!!!

Prior to the break, we built and water sealed wooden frames for the outdoor shower, water fill and both windows. We used RedGard to seal the wood. It makes it like rubber type seal waterproofing and crack prevention membrane. I thought it was interesting. As, I painted it on it was a hot pink color. But, as it dried it turned red.

We will have a mini-split in the camper. So, we are using steel to reinforce the walls. It will make the walls stronger for the heavy load. Jacob cut the pieces while I sanded off the sharp edges.

We also cut, drilled holes and attached wooden strips to the ceiling of the trailer. They will help hold the extra half inch insulation we added. These strips be used to help fasten the tongue and groove ceiling. We are not quite ready for that just yet!

Then…the break came! Between helping my parents move into their new house. Jacob acted like “Hercules” and him bending over this unconventional work bench. He caused his back to go into horrible spasms and pain so bad he could not move. After, several weeks for rest and some medication he was ready to slowly start back to work. But, then the Texas winter ice and snow storm came and it halted us longer.

The setback was unfortunate. But, we are both grateful it was not worse than it seemed. It is a lesson in slowing down and being body conscious.
