Part 5
It has been many day since, I have updated about The Big Shack. We have worked on it but life and other things have also taken some devoted time.
In the last post, I measured out all the spaces between our metal wall framing for the insulation. Well, those measurement even with Jacob’s glasses were perfect. We had to measure and cut each piece of insulation to fit the walls and the ceiling.

Once that was complete, we were able to reattach some of the wall panels.
Many of the preparations, we have completed were over a course of several days. Daylight savings time has not been our friend. It starts getting dark here about 5pm. Thank goodness, we have our shop to work in as well.

Some of the work we need to do is contingent on parts we ordered and waiting for their arrival. Here are a few items we received so far: a shower base and column, windows, door step, exterior lighting and outdoor shower.
We ordered a refrigerator from Home Depot. We have spent a lot of time at this store. The fridge looks small but it will fit perfect in the space we have designated for it. It is actually bigger than the one in TJ Shack.

We continue to research about the type and color of ceiling we want. We have pretty much decide we want tongue and groove. In my mom’s old house, she replaced her lament flooring with carpet. So, we took several of those pieces to use in the Big Shack. It was free and is pretty so why not?

We have mapped out the ac lines, solar wire entrance, window areas, vents, city water fill, and outdoor shower areas. Jacob cut out templates for the windows and outdoor shower.

We cut strips of plywood and drilled holes into them to attach to the ceiling leaving space for electrical wiring. Jacob also cut some steal to reinforce wall areas that will have the ac and batteries installed. Then, we sanded any sharp edged off.
Now that we are caught up from the last couple days. Today, we received another anticipated shipment of our solar panels and ac system. Jacob also attached the wooden planks to the ceiling.

Thanks for reading…until next time.
