Part 3

It is finally time to pick up the Big Shack. It has been 3 months of anticipation. We ordered the trailer custom made with certain requested specs. The company that we ordered it from is Cargo Craft in Corsicana, Tx.

During the wait Jacob has continued to do more research and ordering for solar panels, water tanks, gray tanks, cabinet roll-up doors, the shower door, insulation, split phase inverters, batteries, plumbing for water and so much more.

We have received the water tanks, gray tanks, cabinet doors and shower door, industrial hook and loop for mounting of solar panels. We are still waiting for solar panels, windows, lights, shower floor and accessories, outdoor shower, fold down table, door step and other items. In the meantime, let’s go get Big Shack.

We drove to Corsicana the night before picking up the trailer and stayed at a local motel. The next morning we drove to the shop. After, waiting for about an hour there it was.

We did a walk through (like that took long) and then it was time to hook it up. But, oh no…the lights are not working. We had some guys from the shop come out. They tested them and they worked for them. Everything showed power, but the connection from the truck to the trailer didn’t. Jacob said we will just have to deal with it. He needed to see what is wrong with the connection on the truck.

So, we hooked up and headed out. But, I reminded him we had some extra external lights with us in the bed of the truck. So, we pulled over to hook them up. But, the cords were not long enough. So luckily, we were right by a Napa Auto-parts store. After some rigging up the cords and lights we were back on the road.

It was recommended to check the lug nuts on the trailer tires several times on the first trip. But, we have more than just lug nut issues.

The side door at the front of the trailer kept opening. Then, it happened….A FLAT TIRE. We were only 60 miles from home. So, we pulled over to change it. We relied on a piece of nature (a rock) to help give a little bit of height Yes, I helped…this girl can change her own tire. It was nice that 2 guys came over and offered an impact drill to help put the lug nuts back on.

SOMEONE HELP ME !! I HAVE A FLAT TIRE!!!!

Jacob was put the new tire on and I examined the flat one. There was not a nail, screw or anything. The side walls and everything looked good. We assumed it was just not inflated totally. So, we once again headed home. We arrived home and unhitched the trailer. Then, examined the tire again. The soap and water bubble test always works. Low and behold there it was! The tiniest leak of air.

As, I see it the door opening, the loose lug nuts, the lights not working and the flat tire are all minor. They are the start of our adventures in the build. That is something we look forward to doing.

Jaxon and Dean liked their future patio area. Both of them giving the seal of approval.
