Day 15

This morning started out quiet, calm and relaxing. We just sat in the living room enjoying our coffee. I did my reading and Jacob watched some videos. We like mornings like this…just being still.

It was again a cloudy and windy day. But, we decided to drive out to Mexico Beach. We walked along the beach for a while. There is something about being by the water, sand and the beach air. The small waves coming up on the shore giving a tranquil feeling. And it seems like time can just slips away. The boys (Jaxon and Dean) really enjoy it.

We stopped at a Veteran Memorial walking around. As we silently thanking service men and women that have and continue to serve our country. There was one story about Clifford Sims. He was a SSGT U.S. Army, Medal of Honor recipient during the Vietnam War. He saved his squad not once but twice. The first time he was command to move is men to help cover another group of Army soldiers. He notice a brick structure full of ammunition. Realizing the danger, he immediately moved his soldiers. Due to his quick actions only 2 were injured. Another and his final time he and his soldiers were going to thick wood as bullets were being fired at them. While approaching a bunkered a booby trap was triggered. He warned his comrades and placed himself upon the device as it exploded. Both times, he made brave choices that saved his fellow brothers as he gave his.

My dad is a Vietnam Air Force Veteran!
