Day 10
After yesterday’s events with my knee, our traveling for was set back a few days. But, I do not think it will stop us. I rested it after getting to hotel yesterday and majority of today. My pain is minimal. I have been stay on top of taking OTC meds.
We woke up early today. The weather was rainy and just gray. We have travelled for several months at a time. This weather has been to worst of all so far. It has rained pretty much everyday. We may have had 1 or 2 days of sunshine. So, I am not sure if it was the gloomy weather or yesterday’s stress that just made me tired.
We had a not so great hotel breakfast. Then, Jacob had to do some work. Therefore, I did my reading and started our laundry.
We decided to get out of the hotel to go eat lunch. I asked the ladies at the hotel desk if they recommended anywhere. I was given a list of 5 places. We wanted something local and not a typical chain restaurant. So, we loaded up and headed to McElroys. It was established in 1974. Hurricane Katrina destroyed the restaurant completely. They rebuilt it in 2012. It was built 29ft high. I am glad they had an elevator. I was not going to try to walk up the 2 flights of stairs (to the right of the picture). The food was good and the atmosphere was nice.
Afterwards, we walked to the harbor. But, it was cold and windy. So, we need to warm up. What better way than the Casino? The Hardrock Casino was next door to the restaurant. We played few slots and lost. Ha ha! We did not stay out long and I have rested my leg the rest of the evening.
Tomorrow, we leave the hotel. We will attempt to head to Dauphin Island for few days. There is a bird sanctuary and aquarium there. I want to try and see one or both. Of course, weather and knee permitting. It’s going to be cold out.
