Day 9

Well today definitely did not start out how we wanted nor expected.

If you recall from my last post couple post (day 7), I mentioned my knee dislocating at the beach. On day 8, we stayed hanging out in and around the camper.

It was about 12:30am on Day 9, I simply rolled over and my knee for the second time popped out of socket. The pain was worse than the first time. I broke out in a cold sweat and was shaking. Part of it, I believe was from anxiety and the other part from pain. I did not have the support brace on that we bought at Walmart. Selfishly, I guess I did not think anything would happen.

Eventually, I calmed down enough and took some medication to help with pain. I am not big on taking pain medication. So, Extra Strength Tylenol 1000mg was my choice. We finally fell back to sleep but both woke up with every move I made. So needless to say neither of us slept that great.

Upon, waking up I needed to access the situation and check for the swelling. So, I hobbled over to the shower and yep it was swollen. Since, we had to check out of the campground anyways we looked up the closest urgent care. Luckily, we found one that specialized in Othropedic issues.

So, we packed up and headed there. After, X-rays, a steroid shot and a specialized knee stabilizing brace I am on the road to healing. I hope! Just not on the road to traveling. Which is a bummer to me!

While, still trying to smile and make the best out of everything. We continued with our day but not our original plans as mentioned on Day 8 blog.

We did stop at a local Thai restaurant for lunch. It was really delicious. Next door, they had a hair salon. I decided to hop over there and have my hair braided. That way, I don’t have to mess with it the next couple of days. It was a fun experience. The ladies were so nice and funny.

We decided with the injury and pending storms we would stay at a hotel for the next couple days. It will give my leg more time to rest and allow the storms to pass.

Now, settled in the hotel. We enjoyed a nice salad for dinner. I did not want anything to heavy. Everyone is worn out from today’s adventures. I don’t expect tomorrow to be as adventurous! One benefit from staying here is I will get our laundry done tomorrow. The front desk gave me free laundry detergent. Everything has its perks and blessings in disguise!
