Yosemite Day 2 and The IPAs 😬

Day 66:

It was Yosemite Day 2: Goodness, there is so much to see in the park. I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ that we will get to it all! Before having to continue our way! But, it leaves more for next time….

As Jaxon helped navigate we head to explore Hetch Hetchy and walk across the O’Shaughnessy Dam. It supplies water to San Francisco! Rich with history from the its Native American roots to the European settlers!

Hetch Hetchy meaning grass and seeds native to this land. Where portions are still very sacred to land! And still protected under federal law!

We took a hike through a tunnel waiting to see the beauty of what lie ahead! Admiring the California Sister butterfly and the Manzanita tree with it red soft limbs. Also, taking time to sit and enjoy the silence while watching the sun glisten on the lake. It’s like time stood still for a moment. Then… we heard people talking! 🤨

As we walked back, I moment came over me. I had to climb through this small “cave like” rocky area. Something in me felt a little daring!

We arrived back at the truck. Then, decided to go to a tavern we noticed on the way to the Hetch Hetchy. As, we parked we saw this guy waving at us! My thoughts 💭 “ Oh no we are not allowed !” He actually stopped us to let us know he had been admiring TJ Shack. He worked in the park and drives by the area we are camping. As we find a seat in the tavern we happened to sit right by him.. Aaron is his name. We chat with him a bit and enjoyed the IPAs He gave us information on places to see along our travels. Mammoth Lake is a common name that several people tell us about!

As we head back to camp we took at detour to Aspen Valley. I was hoping to see my favorite tree. But, about a mile into the road we were hit with “road closed” signs. Why those were not at the beginning of the road we don’t know. So, we zoomed out!

There is a lodge down from us called Rush Creek Lodge! We went there for dinner. It is $500 a night to stay there. Needless to say… we will keep our free spot just up the road and in walking distance. Ha ha. But, we were told a secret 🤫 of how to get into the pool and hot tub!! 🥰😜🤫🤫🤫
