Day 44:
Small towns just have their own local charm. Today, we went to Panguitch, Utah. We had to go pick up the part Jacob ordered yesterday at Napa Autoparts.
I like going to little towns like that because ppl have a better sense of community. I know, it’s not always a good thing. Someone is always in someone else’s business. But, going to a big city you’re just another person in the crowd.
We stopped at a local restaurant called Flying Goat Cafe. It was charming place. I like the coffee cups and was tempted to buy the one saying “Goat ahead make my day”! But, I knew it was not a need.
Afterwards, we walked the “Main Street” and looked at a few shops. Antique stores are always interesting to go too. I laugh when, I see things that I had as a child. Or things that I know they are not really antique just some random stuff to sell. For example…. Wildlife animals that have been taxidermied. It does surprise me when I see things from the Netherlands in these places. I always want to buy them.
The was also a small thrift shop that I went to while Jacob did some work from TJ. If I stayed in there long enough I would have known all the town gossip. There was 4 older ladies and 1 gentleman in there just talking about ppl. Especially, about the ladies across the street at the antique store.
We got back to Bryce Canyon and went to look at a few lookout points. One was called Whiteman Connecting Trail. Of course, I made Jacob take a picture by it. Then he said “This is where all the white men meet up to walk together”. Unfortunately, he was the only one so we left. Ha, ha !
Before, coming back to camp we stopped at this area of burnt trees with some little yellow Aspens in the middle of it. We had passed it before but I could not get the picture fast enough. Seeing it I couldn’t not help but think “There was is so much death, despair and destruction around them. Yet, here they are showing new growth and that change continues. Just as in death…life is hard, there is much despair and things change but some new growth happens!”
