Day 37

The moon 🌕 greeted us still hanging in the sky. I looked around and thought 💭 “We have a very mini-Quartzite here.” There was a Scamp. There were 3 motor homes, 2 van campers, and us. Our own little temporary community.

We enjoyed our coffee and breakfast (chorizo and eggs) in the warmth of the sun. Later, Dennis and Maria (1 of van campers) came over to check out The Shack. Jacob and I shared moments of explaining various things about our camper. People are so amazed how we manage to organize things. But, for me it seems simple. I guess, it’s all due to liking things to have a place. But it’s not always nice to a tidy.

Taking one last view of the various mountainous regions. We watched the Model Ts take off for their adventure. As, it was time to pack up and go! We planned on driving the Burr Trail to find our next camp. The road went from paved to dirt to washboard city with dirt! I don’t think 🤔 there was a part of our bodies or the whole camper that was not shaking!

All the rattling did not stop me from having fun. There was an area of dirt hills that looked hard. Curiosity killed the cat! I wanted to try my luck 🍀 in climbing it. As, I got closer to the top my feet would sink in further and further into the dirt. It was fun. I don’t look at it as it defeated me. But more as a I attempted it at least. I know, if I kept trying, I would have made it.

Driving along, we are always amazed the way each side of an area can look so dramatically different. We did learn it’s all in how the sun ☀️ hits one side and how the other side freezes. Noticing one a part of a mountain that the thousands layered sediment look like a multi layered cake.

Soon, we got to a sign and prepared for the switchbacks. Jacob made a video out it for your enjoyment. Though, the cameras don’t show all the craziness of these turns. We searched 🔍 for camp. After some time, just settling for a tucked away area among the Junipers and a dried riverbed. The red dirt was all over the outside of the camper. I’m sure inside too. Thank goodness for our air compressor to blow off the loose dirt.

Burr Trail

Taco salad 🥗 was the choice for dinner. The day must have worn both Jacob and the boys out. They rested as I read my book 📖 🤓. I’m almost done with it.

I know, I take many pictures. I don’t post them all surprisingly. I do this in hopes to always have reminders of how each moment felt. To lock in the various colors, textures and smells of each pine in my mind. Yet, there are times I just look around admiring my surroundings. Trying to capture it as a photo in my brain. Praying never ever get lost. But like a popular camping quote says “Not all who wander are lost!”
