Day 26

Wow this day was so exciting and little stressful. The excitement exceeds the stress by far though!

So, let me back track just a minute. The past couple of nights it’s been in the mid 30s-40s until morning. So, I took out the quilt my mom had made for us when we got the Shack. It gave the perfect extra warmth we needed.

Ok, so as usual we got up and had coffee ☕️! But this time we didn’t have breakfast because we had a mission to complete. So, we packed up and headed to start our mission!

We were trying to get to Bluff, Utah. We planned on meeting Jacob’s brother Martin, his wife Wilma, Wilma’s brother Niko and his wife Gitta. BUT they didn’t know, we were coming! Remember, yesterday, I mentioned we had a surprise well this was it. I did my reading on the way and enjoyed the sites.

Well, on our way to Bluff. We did stop at a restaurant called Mi Mexico Family Restaurant. The food was good and the plates 🍽️were huge. Neither, of us were able to finish. So, we headed out!

As we arrived in Utah, the landscape definitely was more desert like. We enjoyed the vast difference.

Our surprise meeting of our family was absolutely perfect! Man, the timing we had was just astonishing! We drove 6hrs to get to the Cadillac Ranch RV campground. We knew his brother was going to stay here. We figured we would arrive first! But we actually pulled up exactly right behind them. What are the chances!? We walked in the campground office. The look 👀 on their face was utter shocking 😮 happiness 😃 and for us too! I wish, I would have gotten the look on everyone’s faces. But Martins face says a lot! I think 🤔, we frightened the office guy too. He didn’t know what to believe🤔 or what was happening! We finally explained to him!

The Surprise!

After, the initial excitement… we all got settled in our assigned spots. Jacob, the dogs 🐕 and I went over to their camp spots. We enjoyed an adult beverage and some cheese w/crackers! After a while, we walked to a local smokehouse and had dinner. The walk was nice, and visiting was great.

But as we returned to the camper. We noticed our Rhino-Rack batwing awning had broken. Two of the arms were broke off. It’s fixable, but we have to order the parts. We (Jacob) had staked it down in 3 areas, but the ground was hard. Normally, we tie it down too. But there was no wind 💨 so it didn’t seem necessary. Well, obviously it was. There must have been a gust 💨 that came through at the perfect angle. I was to in shock about what happened that I failed to get pictures of the damage.

We did not let that hinder our time with family. So, we got the awning put up. We decided to start some laundry 🧺 and take showers. These bathrooms here are so nice! Afterwards, we walked over to Martin and Wilma’s camper had some evening coffee ☕️ visited more. Later parting ways for the night!

But wait! Our evening just continued. Jacob smelled some oil and noticed some drops on the ground. After, further evaluation he determined our our rear axle seal is leaking. We researched some nearby mechanics shops. Therefore, tomorrow he will call them and see if they are available to fix it. Oh, the joys of traveling 🧭! But, I know, we would not have missed this day and family time. It all can be fixed and that what matters.
